Steve Disenhof
It's been 52 years since I first turned out for a political protest and, as a sign said recently, it seems hard to believe we still have to be out there.
However, as demonstrated by the Black Lives Matter movement finally attracting worldwide attention and the recent spike in anti-Asian violence,
much has been left undone over the years. And, with Covid, Trumpians, and Climate Change, we currently face an existential threat
such as the planet hasn't faced in millennia.
I believe we photographers have the power to magnify the message of the organizations we support and believe this is how I can best
contribute at this time of my life. Now retired from my primary career, my photography includes a wide range of subjects and genres,
including sports, dance, landscape and nature. As a photojournalist for U.S. Press Agency and Probonophoto.org,
I've covered scores of local events dating back to pre-retirement, especially in the areas of social justice and the environment.
Much of my time over the past decade has been working in support of Daraja Academy of Kenya,
a boarding high school for talented young women from families with little means.
A sample of my work can be found at http://www.stevedisenhof.com.
